  1. Before they are entered into the official list I want to open this thread for myself but also anyone else to help keep keep track of notes of quote-mines they have seen around. Eventually getting round to sorting through it so they can be added.

@Edward Winston, you said this quote:

"We shall have world government, whether or not we like it. The question is only whether world government will be achieved by consent or by conquest."

...was false. Zeitgeist attributes it to "Paul Warburg Architect of the Federal Reserve System". According to Wikipedia, it was James Warburg (Paul's son) who said this. They give this as their source:

Senate Report (Senate Foreign Relations Committee) (1950). Revision of the United Nations Charter: Hearings Before a Subcommittee of the Committee on Foreign Relations, Eighty-First Congress. United States Government Printing Office. p. 494.

I coudn't find this Senate report though.

Yeah, I thought you might want to know that it was possibly Paul Warburg's son who really said this, although I don't know if the senate report is quoted accuratly, and I don't know where to look.

  5. When I track down quotes I often try to without the author as well, and I never could find a good origin for it, despite various places it was claimed to exist, though it still could be out there (doubtful).

  6. There's a quote about corporations attributed to Abraham Lincoln, but it's already been debunked because prior to being attributed to him, it was attributed to another person, but even that person didn't say it. I'm not sure what the quote is.

Hi. I have seen this Woodrow Wilson quote used before to 'show' that the NWO or a shadow government exists or something like that.

"Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men's views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it."

However, the rest of the quote is:

"They know that America is not a place of which it can be said, as it used to be, that a man may choose his own calling and pursue it just as far as his abilities enable him to pursue it; because to-day, if he enters certain fields, there are organizations which will use means against him that will prevent his building up a business which they do not want to have built up; organizations that will see to it that the ground is cut from under him and the markets shut against him. For if he begins to sell to certain retail dealers, to any retail dealers, the monopoly will refuse to sell to those dealers, and those dealers, afraid, will not buy the new man's wares."

So, it's not about a shadow government, it is about capitalism.

Much less exciting, but there it is.
